Canteen
June '09 Canteen Menu (pdf)
The canteen is an integral part of school life at Mimosa and we are lucky to have Margaret as our Canteen Manager. Along with the very necessary volunteer helpers and P&C appointed Canteen Committee, Margaret keeps our children well fed and happy!
The Canteen is open each Monday, Wednesday and Friday for morning tea and lunch. There are also ‘Special Days’ held during the term on non Canteen days. These are well publicised two weeks prior to their occurrence.
Canteen choices, both at recess and for lunch, are extensive, reasonably priced and follow Healthy Eating guidelines. Should your child have special dietary requirements, please discuss these needs with Margaret and she will be able to indicate what is suitable on the menu.
We are currently trialling stage lines at the canteen - Kindergarten, Years 1-2, Stage 2 and Stage 3. This gives everyone a fair chance of being served, with the little ones not being jostled or over looked.
To order lunch, there are bags available (at a cost of 10c) at the windows in the morning before school with the price list nearby, or you can bring your own bag with your order written on the front. Orders should be in by 9:15am. Late orders can be taken, but in this case, there is no guarantee of getting what you want (although we do try).
No child will be left hungry and if your child forgets their lunch or it gets wet, eaten by a dog or lost, we will give them something and send an IOU home for you to pay the next day.
Volunteers are a VERY necessary part of canteen life and without their help, the canteen would not be nearly so versatile or well run and we do encourage all parents and even grandparents to try to give one day a term to help out. A volunteer form is available below, just put your preferred date on the form and send it back to the canteen, either email it to mimosa-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or just go and see Margaret in the canteen. You will be sure of a very warm welcome!
Working in the canteen gives a broad overview of the whole school community by fostering a closer relationship with the children, teachers and other parents. The children love to see their parents in this role and it is a very rewarding experience for all concerned.
